Tuxford Central railway station is a former railway station in Tuxford, Nottinghamshire. It was opened by the Lancashire, Derbyshire and East Coast Railway in March 1897 and closed by British Rail in 1955.
From Boughton the line descended to the valley of the River Trent and Tuxford station was just before the line crossed the the GNR's main line. It was, for a while, called Tuxford Town though none of the three stations were particularly close to the town centre. The GNR had its own station further north at Tuxford North. Dukeries Junction, a two level station over the crossing point, was built among fields. Even though there was a west to north curve between the two lines, it was probably intended as a changing point between trains, given that it was also called Tuxford Exchange. Within the triangle formed by the curve was the company's locomotive repair shop and running shed. This was equipped well enough to carry out even major repairs, such as boiler and firebox replacement. It survived as a wagon repair shop to nearly the end of the Twentieth Century.
