Hans Putmans (? - 1656) was a Dutch explorer. He born in
Middelburg (South Holland) and was a governor of Formosa, later known asTaiwan , 1629 till 1636. During his time as governor, Putmans fought against theMing dynasty by fleet generalZheng Zhilong onOctober 22 ,1633 in a dispute over tax. The problem was resolved because Putmans was defeated. Putmans was relieved in 1636 by Johan van de Burch, who served until 1636.
