Carrie Spooner Heffernan (played by Leah Remini) is a fictional character on the American sitcom "The King of Queens".

Carrie Heffernan (born in Manhattan as Simone Spooner on June 19, 1968) is the attractive, smart-mouthed wife of Doug Heffernan (Kevin James). Her father, Arthur Spooner (Jerry Stiller), lives in the couple's basement.

When Carrie was a child, Arthur lost her name in a poker game and had to switch names with her cousin Carrie. Carrie's mother, Sophia, insisted on having "mother to Simone" engraved on her tombstone. Carrie originally had a sister (or probably, and more specifically, a paternal half-sister named Sara (Lisa Rieffel)) who moved in along with Arthur, but after the first season, the character was dropped.

Little is known about Carrie's mother Sophia, except that she died during Carrie's teenage years, leaving Carrie in a state of confusion.

Carrie remembers high school as a terrible time, mostly because she was unable to enjoy many of the pleasures of the era, as she had to work. She worked at a variety of jobs, such as a waitress, and cashier at Waldbaums Supermarket. She also was an accomplace in the car-jacking of her shop teacher's car, which was ultimately dumped in a river after having the license plates removed. She worked hard in school, but ultimately her success was stifled by her responsibilities. She was accepted to Florida State University during her senior year, but never knew about it, as her father hid the acceptance letter in an attempt to keep her near him. This led to Carrie being convinced she was not good enough for college. Most of her history between this period and the time she met Doug occurred before the start of the series, and is therefore unclear.

Carrie met her future husband Doug Heffernan at a bar. Carrie's best friend is Kelly Palmer (Merrin Dungey), soft-spoken wife of Doug's best friend Deacon Palmer (Victor Williams).
