"Parnassius staudingeri" is a high altitude butterfly which is found over a vast area - Pamirs , Alai , Hindu Kush, Karakorum and West Kuen-Lun.

It is a member of the Snow Apollo genus "Parnassius" of the Swallowtail (Papilionidae) family.
