William Ritchie (physicist)

William Ritchie (1790-1837) was a physicist who was notable for writing the book "Principles of the Differential and Integral Calculus" (1836). He wrote several papers on heat, electricity, and elasticity. He was regarded as a good experimenter. He studied in Paris under Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac and Jean-Baptiste Biot.
