Henry Ware (Bishop of Barrow-in-Furness)

Henry Ware was the inaugural Bishop of Barrow-in-Furness from 1889 until his death in 1909. Born in 1830 and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] , his first post after Ordination was as Fellow and Tutor at his old college. In 1862 he was appointed Vicar of Kirkby Lonsdale [ [http://www5.surreycc.gov.uk/dtcgi/nph-dtweb.exe?DTx=d&DTnp=4&DTnd=38&DTDB=DB03&DTHD=SurreyNoOrderBasicDisplay.htm&DTHE=Error.htm&DTHL=SurreyNoOrderBasicList.htm&DTHS=Search.htm&DTNT=10&DTRANK=Enable&DTQB1=185&DTQI1=main&DTQO1=and Surrey History Centre Collection] ] , a post he held until 1888 when he was elevated to the Episcopate [The Times, Saturday, Oct 19, 1889; pg. 6; Issue 32834; col B "New Suffragan Bishop"] . He died on 16 April 1909 [The Times, Wednesday, Apr 21, 1909; pg. 1; Issue 38939; col B "Deaths Rt Rev Henry Ware"] .
