The S&P 400, more properly the S&P MidCap 400, is a
stock market index developed byStandard & Poor's . Additions to the index are chosen from American mid-cap companies withmarket capitalization s between $1.5 and $5.5 billion; however, because of price changes, the members of the index can have market capitalizations outside this range.Components (as of September 18, 2008)
