Rosanna Phelps Warren (born July 1953) is an American
poet andscholar .Biography
Warren was born in Fairfield,
Connecticut tonovelist , literarycritic and Poet LaureateRobert Penn Warren andwriter Eleanor Clark . She graduated fromYale University in 1976 with a degree in painting, and then in 1980 received an MA from The Writing Seminars atJohns Hopkins University . She is currently the Emma MacLachlan Metcalf Professor of the Humanities and a University Professor atBoston University . She is divorced and has two children.She has received numerous awards for her poetry, including the
Pushcart Prize , theAmerican Academy of Arts and Letters Award of Merit in Poetry, and theWitter Bynner Poetry Prize and aGuggenheim Fellowship . She is a member ofThe American Academy of Arts and Letters andThe American Academy of Arts and Sciences , and has served as Chancellor of theAcademy of American Poets . A gifted teacher, Warren was awarded the Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching atBoston University in 2004.
