John Lodge Ellerton (1801 in
Cheshire –1873 inLondon ) was an English composer ofclassical music .According to the Dictionary of National Biography of 1889Google books|8SsJAAAAIAAJ|Dictionary of National Biography, pp. 244-5] , he graduated with an MA from
Oxford University in 1828, and in 1837 married the sister of the 8thEarl of Scarbrough . His opera "Domenica" was produced at Drury Lane in 1838, but this was unsuccessful; his oratorio "Paradise Lost" (op. 125; for soloists (SSAATTTBB), chorus (SATB) and orchestra.) He died in Hyde Park in 1873.
