Won Yong Ko

Won Yong Ko

Won Yong Ko (born October 15, 1945) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2005. A native of South Korea, in 2008 Ko was the only LDS Church general authority from mainland Asia.

Ko was born in Busan, Korea in 1945. He joined the LDS Church in March 1962. Ko holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University. Ko was employed as the president and CEO of Hanjin Information Systems. He also worked for a time as managing director of IBM in Korea.

In the LDS Church, Ko has served as a stake president, area public affairs representative, and as an area seventy beginning in 1995. Ko also served as a counselor in the church's Asia North Area presidency while he was an area seventy. He and his wife Eun-Hee Kim have two children.

In April 2005, Ko became a member of the church's Second Quorum of the Seventy. In 2008, Ko was serving as first counselor in the presidency of the Philippines Area of the church.
