Peter K. Gregersen

Peter K. Gregersen is an American scientist who is head of the Robert S. Boas Center for Genomics and Human Genetics at The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research in Manhasset, New York. Gregersen is also chief of the division of biology and human genetics in the department of medicine at North Shore University Hospital. Gregersen conducts genome-wide scans to identify polymorphisms that are associated with inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and has identified several risk genes for RA and other inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, which are strongly linked to certain ethnic groups whereas others are not. In 2007, Gregersen received the Klemperer Award from the New York Academy of Medicine and the American College of Rheumatology’s Distinguished Basic Investigator Award. He has published more than 160 scientific studies, including two 2007 papers in the New England Journal of Medicine. He is a member of the editorial boards of the journals Genes and Immunity, Human Molecular Genetics and Molecular Medicine.
