"Manny Come Home" is the first episode of season three of British sitcom Black Books

Plot Summary

Fran comes back from Cornwall to find Bernard's shop filthier than ever. She walks in to the living room to find him lazing on the couch, apparently having discovered television. He then tells her Manny has begun work in the bookshop next door, Goliath Books, after Bernard deliberately made Manny put his hand in a sandwich toaster. Fran begins trying to get Manny back so she can have someone to talk to, but to no avail. The shop owner, Evan (Simon Pegg), then forces Manny to cut his hair short. Manny escapes the bathroom where he was supposed to have it cut and returns to Black Books to find Bernard lying in a mess. Evan then bursts into Black books with a razor but Bernard stops him.

Manny: "Bernard, help! He's gonna cut my hair!"

Bernard (in a sick voice) "How dare you! Don't you touch a hair of this boy's head! Have you no respect? He's mine! Get your own human plaything!"

Evan: "DON'T eat muffins when I'm developing you!"

Bernard: "You mean all I have to do is say sorry and you'll come back and work in the bookshop?"

Manny: "Yes!"

Bernard: "OK. Manny, I'm sorry... sorry I ever let you in here, so you could rob me of my best years and then leave me a burnt out husk!"
