Australia andNew Zealand but it is present in many other places as anintroduced species and often anoxious weed . It is a moderate pest inCalifornia . This is an erecttaproot ed plant, usually an annual, growing to heights between one half and two meters. The leaves grow up to 15 centimeters long and are deeply divided into many pointed lobes. Theinflorescence is an array of cylindrical flower heads with flat ends. Each head has a mass of yellow disc florets at the tip and no ray florets. The green phyllaries are often dark-tipped. The fruit is a tinyachene with a pappus.External links
