In 2007, she was one of eight women selected from over 200 applicants to attend the American Film Institute's prestigious [http://www.afi.com/education/dww/ Directing Workshop for Women] [ [http://www.afi.com/education/dww/alu.aspx DWW Alumnae] .] where she directed her first short film "Open Your Eyes".

"Open Your Eyes" was the winner of the 2008 American Film Institute Jean Picker Firstenberg Award for Excellence and Susan won The Alexis Award for Most Promising Student Filmmaker at the [http://www.psfilmfest.org/festival/ 2008 Palm Springs International ShortFest] . "Open Your Eyes" was Susan's first foray as a writer and director.

Susan is also the producer of the award-winning short film "Fueling the Fire", the Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival finalist "Fortune Teller", the DWW short film "Laying Down Arms", and " "Animated American"".
