Zhang Qingwei

Zhang Qingwei (Chinese: 张庆伟; November 1961 - ) is the current chairman of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense of the People's Republic of China.

His ancestors were from Leting, Hebei Province. Born in Jilin City, Jilin Province, Zhang studied at the aircraft department of Northwestern Polytechnical University from September 1978 to August 1982, majoring in aircraft design. In November 2001, Zhang became the general manager and party chief of China Aeronautics Technology Group Corporation, and also the vice director of the Chinese Astronautics Project. On August 30, 2007, he was appointed as the head of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. He has been a member of the 16th and 17th Central Committees of the Communist Party of China. After serving as one of the vice general project manager / commander of Shenzhou 6, he was promoted to become the head of ACAC consortium.
