HMS "Kingfisher" was a
Royal Navy 18-gunsloop , launched in 1804 atDover ."Kingfisher" entered service in 1805, operating in the from
Barbados during theNapoleonic Wars . In April "Kingfisher" captured the Spanishprivateer "Damas" and in December the French "Elisabeth". In 1806, "Kingfisher" was attached to the British squadron that fought in theBattle of San Domingo , and was highly commended for her services in the aftermath of the action. Later in the year, "Kingfisher" was present at the capture of the "President".By 1808 "Kingfisher" was in the
Mediterranean , operating off the Turkish coast. In June the French privateer "Hercule" was captured. In 1811, "Kingfisher" was in theAdriatic , participating indirectly in theAction of 29 November 1811 . in 1813, "Kingfisher" drove five coastal merchant ships ashore atFano and destroyed or captured nine more in May. Between 1814 and 1816, "Kingfisher" was placed in reserve atPortsmouth before being sold.Notes
