Theodis Bowe is an American baseball player from Ellendale, DE. He was selected as the 629th overall pick as a center fielder out of Milford High School in the 21st round of the second day of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft. Bowe became the first athlete from Ellendale to become drafted by a professional sports team, the first athlete to ever be drafted straight out of high school from Milford High [ [http://www.milfordbeacon.com/homepage/x710597061/Bowe-drafted-by-MLB-Cincinnati-Reds Bowe drafted by MLB Cincinnati Reds - Milford, DE - Milford Beacon ] ] , and the second Henlopen Conference senior to be drafted. His Senior League Baseball All-Star uniform number 20 was retired by Milford Little League, with an autographed jersey hanging in the board room of the Little League office.

High School

In high school Bowe excelled in both baseball as a centerfielder and football as a defensive back. As a sophomore, Bowe batted .431 with a .526 on base percentage and was named first team all-Henlopen Conference. In that year, Bowe was also named the Most Improved Player for the Milford High football team.

In his junior year of football he was named honorable mention all-state by the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association. In basbeall, Bowe batted .516 with a .526 on base percentage and a .781 slugging percentage, leading the team to the state championship tournament before falling in the first round. He was named first team all-Henlopen Conference and first team all-state.

In his senior year of high school football, Bowe was named to the DE Preps 2007 Henlopen South All Conference Team and second team all-state by both the Delaware Interscholastic Football Coaches Association and the Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association. Bowe participated in the 53rd DFRC Blue-Gold All*Star Football game [ [http://www.blue-gold.org/dfrc/documents/PlayerRosterReleaseforWebsite.pdf Slide 1 ] ] , a high school all-star game raising money for Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with Cognitive DisAbilities, where all-star football players not only play the game to raise money, but are also paired with a child with a cognitive disability, and played for the Gold Team. In his senior year of high school baseball he was selected as the Milford High School baseball team Most Valuable Player, first team all-Henlopen Conference, first team all-state, American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region 2 Team, and was selected as a centerfielder for the Gold Team in the 31st Blue-Gold Senior All Star High School baseball game, although he could not participate in the game after being drafted. Overall he was named first team all state twice and first team all Henlopen Conference three times. In 40 regular season high school games, Bowe made only one error defensively. During his three years of high school varsity baseball, Bowe collected 91 hits, 4 RBI, had 100 steal attempts, and was successful on 93 steals.

College

In May 2008, Bowe signed a letter of intent to play Division 1 college baseball for Delaware State University in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Bowe, however, was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds and will not be attending.

Minor Leagues

On 11 June, 2008 Bowe signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds and was assigned to report to Sarasota, Florida for a summer instructional camp.

In his first season of rookie league summer ball playing for the Gulf Coast League Reds, Bowe finished with a .200 batting average, 21 hits, 16 runs scored, 6 runs batted in, 12 walks, and 6 stolen bases in 31 games. [http://minors.baseball-reference.com/players.cgi?pid=36823]
