Landship Recruit

The Landship "Recruit" was a wooden mockup of a battleship created by the United States Navy in Manhattan as a recruiting tool. It was located in Union Square from 1917 through to 1920, when it was moved. The New York Times reported at the time that the "Landship" had helped the Navy recruit 25,000 men. The Landship "Recruit" hosted different events designed to bring civilians aboard the ship.
