Ross Butler (politician)

(Alan) Ross Butler (born c. 1944) [cite news|url=http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/06/11/2271223.htm|title=Lennon's replacement sworn in|publisher=ABC News|date=2008-06-11|accessdate=2008-06-11] is an Australian politician, who has been an Australian Labor Party member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly since 2008, representing the electorate of Franklin. He won his seat on a countback of votes on June 10 2008 after the sitting member and Premier of Tasmania Paul Lennon resigned in May 2008. Prior to entering Parliament, Butler had worked as a teacher in the Tasmanian education system, rising to be Principal of, first, Glenora District High School and, then, Cosgrove High School. He then worked as a taxi driver before entering Parliament.
