Birkende is a town located in the Kerteminde municipality, on the island of Funen in central Denmark.

The town is most famous for being the birth place of Hans Tausen (1494-1561), the protagonist of the Danish Reformation. There is a monument to him in the town centre.Birkende's local football team is Birkende BK
