Opened by the
Edinburgh and Northern Railway , it became part of theNorth British Railway in 1865, and so into theLondon and North Eastern Railway . The line then passed on to theScottish Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948. The station was then closed by theBritish Transport Commission .The site today
Although the line through the station site carries goods and the occasional maintenance and accident diversion the station at Abernethy is closed.
