Stuart Alexander "Stu" Bennett (born August 10, 1980) better known by his ring name Stu Sanders, is an English professional wrestler, currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and working in their developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) as Lawrence Knight.

Career

Early career

Bennett was trained by Jon Ritchie and Al Snow. He made his professional debut in June 2004 as a surprise entrant in a 30-man battle royal held by NWA Hammerlock Wrestling under the ring name Stu Sanders.

World Wrestling Entertainment

In October 2007, Bennett was signed to a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, where he debut defeating Ace Steel in a dark match. He later formed a stable with Paul Burchill and began competing in several matches with the Major Brothers. On January 2, 2008, Sanders and Burchill defeated Colt Cabana and Charles Evans in a tournament for the OVW Southern Tag Team Championships. After WWE ended their relationship with OVW as a developmental territory. Sanders along with several OVW talents were moved to Florida Championship Wrestling.

On May 6, 2008, Sanders and Drew McIntyre, collectively known as The Empire, defeated The Puerto Rican Nightmares (Eddie Colón and Eric Perez) to win the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship in Port Richey, Florida.cite web| url=http://www.gerweck.net/news/1210211014.shtml| title=Florida Championship Wrestling 5-7-08 Bourbon Street Results |accessdate=2008-05-07 |publisher=Gerweck.net |last=Gerweck |first=Steve] They lost the titles to Nic Nemeth and Gavin Spears.

Personal life

The exact details of what happened aren't known, but Sanders apparently was trying to leave the restaurant after an altercation with a female at the restaurant who he didn't know but that had bumped into him. As Sanders was leaving, a plain-clothes cop tried to stop him. It isn't known if Sanders knew the man was a cop before the incident. Sanders apparently has told other FCW wrestlers that he didn't know the man was a cop and that had he known, he wouldn't have tried to leave the scene. He said he was simply trying to leave the scene and not get into an altercation with anyone.Fact|date=June 2008
