- Mickey N. Fisher
Mickey Fisher is a founder of the unique American
Martial Arts Style “Karate Shin-Toshi,” which means New Way (from the Chinese/Japanese character “Shin,”) and “Unaffiliated with any other style" (from the Old English word “Tosher"). Mickey started Tae Kwon Do training in the early 60’s under ‘Blood and Gut Karate’ legend Allen Steen, becoming his fourth Black Belt. After receiving his Black Belt from the ‘Father’ of Tae Kwon Do in the Americas, Grand Master Jhoon Rhee, Mickey and one of his earliest students, Bob Jones, founded their own style, Karate Shin-Toshi, in Dallas Texas, USA.Shin-Toshi is a hybrid system composed mainly of Korean and Chinese-Okinawan techniques but utilizing many Japanese principles of technique as well. Since its inception in the mid-60’s, Karate Shin-Toshi has evolved and incorporated fundamentals of most every major martial art. The system has produced dozens of State, National, International and World champions in every belt level. There are now Shin-Toshi blackbelts all over the world, including 60 from the style’s Salt Lake City, Utah area schools alone. Mickey also was a pioneer in the field of Full-Contact Karate, training and managing many of that sports elite legends, including Demetrias ‘"The Golden Greek" Havanas, Dale "Apollo" Cook, Billye Jackson, Raynond "Nomad" McCallum, and Sante Wilson.
With nearly 50 years of Martial Arts experience, Mickey remains active in the leadership and development of the style.
