Iwao Hakamada

Iwao Hakamada (袴田巖, born on March 10, 1936) was a Japanese professional boxer who was sentenced to death for the June 10, 1966 mass murder. Supreme court upheld his death sentence on November 19, 1980. However, he was suspected for being falsely charged. As of|2008, he has been in prison for 42 years, the longest imprisonment in current Japanese condemned prisoners. Japanese boxers believe his innocence.
