List of Naruto episodes

Naruto is an anime series based on the manga series of the same name by Masashi Kishimoto. The series was directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. The episodes have been released in North America by Viz Media. 135 episodes were based on the first twenty-seven volumes of the manga, while the remaining 85 episodes are exclusive to the anime. The series centers on the adventures of Naruto Uzumaki, a young, excitable ninja of Konohagakure who constantly searches for recognition and aspires to become a Hokage, the ninja in his village that is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all.

The 220 episodes that constitute the series were aired between October 3, 2002 and February 8, 2007 on TV Tokyo in Japan. The English adaptation of the anime began airing on September 10, 2005 on Cartoon Network's Toonami.[1] On September 20, 2008, Cartoon Network ended its Toonami block, but the channel continued sporadically airing episodes of Naruto in the time slots originally occupied by Toonami's programming. Episode 209, airing on January 31, 2009, was the last episode to be shown. Viz has since stated that they have continued dubbing new episodes and intend to see them aired on television, although release dates and venues have not been finalized.[2] However, the remaining episodes are on the Season 9 DVD, which was released September 22, 2009. Episodes also aired on YTV's Bionix and Jetix UK programming blocks.

Episodes from the series have been published in DVD. The first DVD series has been the only one to be collected in VHS format.[3] There are a total of five series, with each of the including four episodes per volume.[4] The series has also been collected in a series of three DVD boxes during 2009.[5][6] The newest DVD series is Naruto The Best Scene which collects scenes from the first 135 episodes from the anime.[7] Beginning on March 28, 2006, Viz released the series on DVD.[8] While the first 26 volumes contain four episodes, since DVD volumes have five episodes.[9] Uncut editions are compiled in DVD Box Sets, each containing 12-15 episodes, with some variation based around story arcs.[10]

OVAs

Five original video animation episodes have been released for Naruto. The first two aired during Weekly Shōnen Jump's "Jump Festa 2003" and Jump Festa 2004 DVDs, respectively. The third was included as an extra in the DVD release of the first Naruto movie. The fourth was included on a bonus disc with the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3 PlayStation 2 video game and provides hints for playing the game in RPG mode. The fifth was featured at Jump Festa 2010.

1 "Find the Four-Leaf Crimson Clover!"
"Akaki Yotsuba no Kurōbā o Sagase" (紅き四つ葉のクローバーを探せ)
December 20, 2002
Konohamaru is in love with a girl, Yoshino Kaede, who is moving away from the village. He wishes to win her heart with a crimson four leaf clover, which is also supposed to grant any wish. Konohamaru asks Naruto Uzumaki to help him find it, but they have to travel into the forbidden zone, Akagahara, to retrieve it. After activating almost every trap on the way to the clover, the pair are attacked by marionettes after moving a statue to reach the clover. Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha appear to help, but still can't defeat them. At last, the marionettes shut off after Konohamaru lifts the statue back to its original position. Then one of the leaves fall off. Konohamaru still gives the clover to Kaede, and she kisses him on his cheek.
2 "Mission: Protect the Waterfall Village!"
"Takigakure no Shitō Ore ga Eiyū Dattebayo!" (滝隠れの死闘 オレが英雄だってばよ!)
December 20, 2003 May 19, 2007
Team 7, along with Kakashi Hatake, escort a ninja named Shibuki, the leader of his village, to his home at Takigakure. Shibuki is a coward, however, due to circumstances surrounding his father's death. The Hidden Village has a secret bottle of water called the "Hero's Water." The water imbues whoever drinks it with a dramatic, but temporary, increase in chakra. The effects are similar to opening a "chakra gate," in that it can shorten lifespan as well. Five missing-nin come to the village to steal the Hero's Water, and Team 7 defends against the incursion.
3 "Hidden Leaf Village Grand Sports Festival"
"Konoha no Sato no Dai Undōkai" (木ノ葉の里の大運動会)
August 21, 2004 June 4, 2008
Naruto and Team 7's attempt to win a competition among the other Genin, which consists of various sporting events and races where the winning team will receive a week's paid vacation. Naruto has to use the toilet throughout the entire OVA, only to be prevented in each attempt by his fellow Genin and his own mistakes. Eventually, after winning a race around a running track, Naruto cannot hold on any longer and defecates in front of his friends.
4 "Finally a clash! Jonin VS Genin!! Indiscriminately Championships battle royal!!"
"Tsuini gekitotsu! Jōnin tai Genin!! Musabetsu dairansen taikai kaisai!!" (ついに激突!上忍VS下忍!!無差別大乱戦大会開催!!)
December 22, 2005
A contest is made by the Fifth Hokage called Jonin vs Genin. The point is to collect crystals for points, with the higher-ranked Chunin and Jonin holding crystals worth more points. The Genin have blue crystals, while the Chunin and Jonin have red crystals. The video shows various fights between the Genin and Jonin, with each instance ending in the Jonin unknowingly misplacing their crystal (or discarding it).
5 "The Cross Roads"
"Za Kurosurōzu" (ザクロスローズ)
December 19, 2009
It's a computer-generated OVA focused on the character of Sasuke Uchiha during the time he was in team 7. It takes place during the time between the Land of Waves arc and the Chunin Exams arc. Team 7 is on a mission to rescue a man lost in the forest. Kakashi leaves his Genin to go check out where he thinks the man is. While he is away, a ninja shows up and kidnaps Sakura. The boys travel to pursue them until they come to a cave, where they work together in order to save her. Using a clever technique involving a smokescreen, chakra threads and some fire, Sasuke dispatches the enemy. However, the ninja is used to convey a message to Sasuke, after which the body moves no more. As Kakashi arrives on the scene, a little white snake is seen wriggling out of the body to Orochimaru. The OVA ends 3 years post incident, with an older Sasuke and Tobi. This suggests that the OVA was only a reflection of his past.
