"Beating My Heart" is a selfwritten song by American piano rock singer Jon McLaughlin, produced by John Fields (Jonas Brothers, Lifehouse, and Switchfoot). The song was sent to American mainstream radio stations on July 22 2008, after being delayed twice. "OK Now" was released on October 7, 2008, as confirmed in the Island Pop newsletter. The song was digitally added to iTunes on Tuesday June 17 2008.

Music video

The music video for "Beating My Heart" was shot in Malibu, California on May 15 2008 ("beach scene") and on May 16 ("warehouse scene"). It features McLaughlin and his band playing the song, intertwined with solo scenes. While he and the band keeps playing, water flows into the warehouse, causing a sort of short-circuit, making first the band disappear person by person as if they were electrical, followed by McLaughlin transported to the beach to vanish by electrical short-circuit too.

Chart performance

On the Billboard edition of August 16 2008, "Beating My Heart" debuted at number 38 on "Billboard"'s Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks, moving up to number 36 the next week to spent two weeks at #32 next, ultimately (and currently) peaking at #23 in its ninth week.
