The Universitary Center of Exact Sciences and Engineering CUCEI is the campus of
Universidad de Guadalajara inMéxico focused on the fields of engineering, physical sciences, chemistry and mathematics. It has one of the biggest student population within the universitary net (about 10,000).History
In its beginnings, it was the Science Institute of the city of Guadalajara, which became part of the University of Guadalajara as the University´s Technology Institute. It became the Centro Universitario de Ciencias Exactas e Ingenierías (University's Campus for Exact Sciences and Engineering), known as CUCEI by its acronym in Spanish, in May 2nd 1994 with the fundation of the University's Network.
The Science Institute of the State of
Jalisco was inaugurated on February 1827, and offering the majors in medical science and surgery, jurisprudence, physical and math sciences.When owned by the conservative party, lawyer José Antonio Romero, closed the Institute, at the same time in which he reopened the university by an official decree on September 1st, 1834. The lawyer
Joaquín Angulo as state gobernor, decided in 1847 the simultaneous existence of both the Institute and the University, under a liberal teaching basis. In 1853, it was decreed that the Institute will become part of the University.Majors
