Current_members = Jonny Black Dave Magee Herb Magee Alan LynnLaFaro are a four piece heavy rock/ alternative band from Belfast. They consist of: Jonny Black (guitar/vocals), Dave Magee (guitar), Herb Magee (bass) and Alan Lynn (drums).
They have been described as: "old school post hardcore sounds with just drums, guitars and big chunky distorted bass and Jonny Black mangling his vocals like he’s got a mouth full of drill bits, believe me, it’s a good thing. They sound like Big Black in some garage rock hybrid blended with the explosive sounds of Girls Against Boys, Jesus Lizard, Mclusky and the likes of the Cows and other am rep artists. They are one of the finest Irish Alt rock bands you are likely to hear in quite a while" [Johns, Elliott. "Reviews", "
Rocksound ",Sept 2007 ..They were once signed to Nottingham's Field Records [ [http://www.field-records.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=9&Itemid=71 Field Records - LaFaro ] ] and while with the label released the well received "LaFaro EP" in 2006 containing the lead track "Tupenny Nudger". The band has been voted BBC Northern Ireland Across the Line Local Act of the Year for the last 2 years running [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/atl/news_specific147823.shtml BBC - Northern Ireland - Across The Line ] ] and had features in Hot Press [ [http://www.hotpress.com/archive/2907928.html Amp fiddlers ] ] and Alternative Ulster magazines. They have also played support slots for the likes of Ash [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/atl/review_specific62244.shtml BBC - Northern Ireland - Across The Line ] ] The Pogues [ [http://www.last.fm/event/366322 The Pogues at Nugent Hall (Kings Hall Complex) (Belfast) on 22 Dec 2007 – Last.fm ] ] Oppenheimer and Fighting With Wire [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/atl/review_specific149899.shtml BBC - Northern Ireland - Across The Line ] ] as well as shows at the SXSW Festival 2007 in Texas.
They also contributed a new track "Mr. Heskey", to the "Oh Yeah Sessions '08" album [ [http://www.ohyeahbelfast.com/ohyeah-sessions-08/index.php Oh Yeah Sessions 08 ] ] a showcase for local Northern Irish music recorded at Belfast's Oh Yeah music centre which was released in April 2008.
Most recently 'Tupenny Nudger' was awarded the prestigious title of 'Best Northern Irish song of the past 5 years' in a poll conducted by Alternative Ulster magazine, the results of which were published in October 2008, beating the likes of Snow Patrol and Ash.
A new EP and album are in the works.
