Bruce Hamilton

Bruce Hamilton is an Emmy award winning television and radio journalist. He first realized his broadcasting dream while in high school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bruce began his radio career while still in school at Northeast High in Philadelphia. His first radio job was at WBCB in Levittown, Pennsylvania. While studying journalism at Temple University, he was hired as a helicopter traffic reporter, working with John Carlton, on the ARCO Go Patrol. The "Go Patrol" provided traffic reports on virtually every major station in the Philadelphia metro area. Even though he was flying during morning and afternoon drive, filing his reports, Bruce continued with his studies and took on additional duties as a news anchor at WPEN-AM in Philadelphia.

When he finished his studies Bruce moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico doing radio news for KRKE. Afte a short stint there his career took him to KMGX and KRQ Radio in Tucson, Arizona where he anchored the news and hosted a daily telephone talk show. Bob Richardson, news director at KVOA-TV asked Bruce if he would come on board doing weekend weather. Bruce continued with his rigorous schedule until one night his "talk show guest, the general manager at KOLD-TV in Tucson, Jay Watson, asked Bruce if he wanted to move to television full time.

Bruce made the move from radio to television. While on the air at Channel 13, NBC's headhunter, William Slatter, discovered Bruce and helped move him to a bigger market. He jumped to WESH-TV in Orlando, Florida where he served as main anchor for a number of years, before returning to his hometown as the main anchor at KYW-TV 3. Hamilton anchored the news with Jenifer Ward.

The next move took him back to Florida. This time to the Albritton-owned start-up, ABC 25. Hamilton served as main anchor and managing editor until the station folded two-and-a-half years later. At that point WJXT-TV, the Post-Newsweek powerhouse, picked him up. Today Bruce co-anchors the top rated 4-hour morning news program.

In addition to an Emmy award and several Emmy nominations, the Central Florida Press Club and other journalistic, civil and religious institutions have honored Bruce for his reporting and community service.

Along the way, he has engaged in exclusive White House interviews with Presidents Bush and Clinton, as well as conducted one-on-one interviews with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev. Hamilton has covered major political races and the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. This enterprising journalist has reported from breaking news spots around the world; covered numerous space shuttle launches and landings; and even flown with the Navy’s Blue Angels.
