Beta Durani

Beta Durani is a failed fictional outpost/colony in the "Babylon 5" science fiction television series. Its location is unknown, as there is no star called "Beta Durani" nor constellation "Duranus" in the real world. Its distance and size are also unknown, and it was never shown on screen, so all information about it comes from dialog in the show [http://chronology.org/noframes/b-five/planets.html] :

* In "In The Beginning," Dr. Stephen Franklin mentions encountering a crashed Minbari ship years prior to the start of the war.
* "In the Beginning" also mentions that Beta Durani is the location of a "Midrange Military Base."
* The planet resisted President Clark's declaration of Martial Law in 2260, and was evidently occupied by Earthforce as a result, until it was liberated by Sheridan's forces in September of 2261.
* "Legend of the Rangers" says that the planet is not habitable, and that all its inhabitants live under domes. It is also said that the total population of the world is about 600 people. This seems to contradict previous mentions of the planet in the series.
* Curiously, in "Legend of the Rangers," no mention is made of the "Midrange Military Base" whatsoever.
* Around 2264 or 2265 an archaeological dig on Beta Durani uncovered the ruins of an advanced city one billion years old, thereby releasing "The Hand," a long-lost race of super-powerful aliens who are suggested to be much more dangerous than the Shadows and the Vorlons combined.
* "The Hand" destroy the colony in 2265, presumably killing everyone there in the process.
