"Rune Factory Frontier" is a simulation/role-playing video game developed by Neverland Co., Ltd. and published by Marvelous Entertainment for the Wii video game console. The game is set for release in Japan in 2008. The official "Frontier" website opened on June 6.

On July 11, 2008, Marvelous Entertainment and XSEED Games announced that they are both bringing "Rune Factory Frontier" to North America, with a date of Q1 2009. This is the first time a game in the "Harvest Moon" series is not being brought to North America by Natsume. Yasuhiro Wada confirmed that the "Rune Factory" series is no longer part of the "Harvest Moon" series. However, on June 24, 2008, Natsume announced that they were bringing "Rune Factory 2" to North America under the name of "Rune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moon". The deal for Natsume to bring over "Rune Factory 2", may have been finalized before the publishing deal between Marvelous and XSEED Games was finalized, however that has yet to be confirmed. Information

Originally, the game was announced during an interview between Cubed3 and Yasuhiro Wada, the creator of "Harvest Moon", back in June 6, 2007. A whole year later, the game was fully revealed on June 4, 2008 in the Japanese magazine Famitsu. Effort has been made to upgrade absolutely every part of the game compared to the previous games in the series.

According to the storylines in "Rune Factory" and "Rune Factory 2", "Frontier" may take place after "Rune Factory", as Raguna and Mist return from the original game; a screenshot shows both characters interacting with each other in a village, and Raguna met Mist at the beginning of the original game. In "Frontier" he is on a search to find a missing girl. From the latest volume (Sepetember, 2008) of Famitsu, it is confirmed there will be linkage between both 1 and 2 with this series, and 2 should happen after some time in the 1.

"Frontier" takes place on the island of Tranrupia.

A floating island in the shape of a whale appears at some point during the game.

You're able to grow a farm more similar to the regular "Harvest Moon" games than in the previous "Rune Factory" games.

Rooneys are sprite-like creatures that appear as you work hard on the land and in the village. They are divided into four elemental types (grass, tree, stone, and water), each with a distinctive appearance. In a process comparable to Nintendo's "Animal Crossing" series, the better you take care of your land, the more your land becomes a real village, more people move in, more shops open, etc. [ [http://www.cubed3.com/news/7745/ C3 News :: Cubed³ Exclusive Interview | Yasuhiro Wada: Rune Factory & Magical Melody on Wii, Harvest Moon's Future & More!] ] [ [http://gonintendo.com/?p=45150 GoNintendo » Blog Archive » Rune Factory: Frontier for Wii] ] [ [http://gonintendo.com/?p=45189 GoNintendo » Blog Archive » Rune Factory: Frontier - takes place in-between Rune Factory DS 1 and 2?] ]
