Songoula

Songoula

Songoula is a fable of a monkey or ape like figure, possibly a small man in Seychellois folklore which has been told to young children in the islands down the generations.

Variations exist, and some are clear adaptions of European stories spread to the islands by sailors when the island was colonised. Many of the tales however are engrained into the landscape of the islands such as the tale of the "Songoula in the King's Pool".
