Palapag was the hometown of
Juan Ponce Sumuroy , a Waray who led a rebellion against the Spaniards from1649 -1650 . The main reason for theSumuroy Rebellion was the forcible conscription of workers from Eastern Visayas to work in the shipyards ofCavite .Barangays
