- Pushkar Railway Network
The Pushkar Railway Network provides
broad gauge rail transport in theAjmer district of the Indian state ofRajasthan . The railway network connectsJaipur ,Ajmer andMarwar in thePali district , and also Ajmer withBhilwara . Pushkar, as well as Ajmer, are considered Hindu sacred cities, and are also major tourist destinations of India, justifying the rail network hub. Services toDelhi and other cities in Rajasthan (Pink City Express ),Haryana andGujarat area also available, notably theShatabdi Express , about 7 hours between Ajmer and Delhi. Ironically despite the name, the nearest railway station to Pushkar is 11 km away in Ajmer. The services derive their name from thePushkar Camel Festival when and estimated 50,000 camels are brought to the town for trade.References
