The Qwartz Electronic Music Awards [http://www.qwartz.org] represent a promotional project and a support to the musical independent creation by revealing this creation to the public and offering financial contributions to the artists. The prizes are attributed during the Awards Closing Ceremony. 2000 artists, labels, institutions and partners coming from all over the world assist each year to the event.Wishing to valorise the best of the artistic creation, Qwartz is working with a wide international network of very active electronic music labels [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_record_labels] . The independent labels are unquestionably the true guarantors of the musical quality and dynamism. This is the reason why Qwartz is collaborating with them by conducing them to send us their recently published artworks.
The Aims
The project's aim is to present and make heard the many facets of the contemporary electronic [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Electronic_music] and digital music scene. By giving people the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of this music and enjoy it to the full, Qwartz supports the creativity and cultural diversity that independent production can ensure.
The designation of the prize-winners
The election of the Qwartz prize-winners results of a real democratic process: professionals as dillettantes are involved in this election. After the reception of the artworks, Qwartz digitizes them so that a professional jury makes its selection blindfold. The jury nominates six artworks in the different catégories. Then the Internet users can discover and listen to the nominees's artworks during four months on Qwartz website: this allows the nominees to be known of the public and the public is able to vote for its favorite artist in each category. 2 million people from 80 countries visited the website in the course of the previous editions.
The International Forum for the Electronic Music and the Associated Arts
For the fourth edition in 2008, Qwartz organized the first International Forum for the Electronic Music and the Associated Arts. The forum was held during one day in the Cirque d'Hiver – Bouglione. The public could visit more than 60 stands. The participants were labels, institutions, press organs
