Ismayil Hajiyev (born 18 November 1949), Azerbaijani conductor and composer. Mr. Hajiyev is son of well-known Azerbaijani composer
Jovdat Hajiyev and folk dancerAmina Dilbazi .In 1973 Ismail Hajiyev graduated from
Azerbaijan State Academy of Music with high honours in the field of Theory of Music and Composition under mentorship of famous Azerbaijani composerQara Qarayev , and received a degree of the Master of Music. In 1975 he became a member of the Union of Composers of theUSSR and created symphonies, symphonic variations, string quarters, three symphonic poems, piano compositions and passacaglia for the orchestra. In 1975-1981 Mr. Hajiyev studied inSaint Petersburg Conservatory at the faculty of "Opera and Symphonic Conducting" under supervision of Professor I. Mousin, and Musical Director of St. Petersburg Kirov Theater, and the Principal Guest Conductor ofMetropolitan Opera , New York,Valery Gergiev . After graduation, he became an Assistant of the Artistic Director,Evgeny Mravinsky , of theSaint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra . In this period of time Mr. Hajiyev made a lot of recordings with his performances.In 1985, Ismail Hajiyev was appointed to the position of an Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of
Niazi Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra and created a first Commercial Chamber Orchestra of Old and Contemporary music, “Ilham,” inAzerbaijan . With this orchestra, he toured around the world and gave numerous successful performances. "Ilham"s repertoire included both Western and Oriental music pieces.Since 1999 Ismayil Hajiyev reside in
Canada . In 2001, Mr. Hajiyev organized a Silk Road Chamber Orchestra inCanada . With this orchestra, he gave series of successful performances in Toronto and Ottawa.External Links
