Tino Favazza

Cateno Favazza, better known by his stage name Tino Favazza (born April 11, 1958), is an Italian operatic tenor and bel canto singer from Sicily.

Early years

Tino Favazza was born in Gaggi, Sicily, a small village of the Alcantara river valley near Taormina.

Over the last ten years, Enrico Faccini, an expert opera tenor, has continuously and personally followed Favazza’s artistic education, which started at the age of six. From childhood, Favazza participated in many musical events (festivities, ceremonies, church concerts, theatres, recordings, Sicilian television shows...) Career

In 2002, Favazza was awarded the Giuseppe Di Stefano award for “Best Sicilian Tenor”, which he received from Di Stefano personally.Fact|date=June 2008

In the last decade, Favazza has toured Europe several times and performed in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain ans Switzerland . He collaborated with a number of international artists in lyric, classic and ethnic music concerts. Particularly important were his appearances in Vienna, Graz, Ljubljana and at the Kolarac concert hall in Belgrade. His voice has been described as an “antique voice” and recognised for being rare and extraordinary for its ductility, nature, expressivity and colour.Fact|date=June 2008

In February 2001, he participated as “Best voice” in the Brussels International Festival, after which he was contacted by the theatre of the Russian House, where he performed classic and lyric Italian melodies in celebration of the venue’s eightieth anniversary. He was the first Italian tenor ever to sing in this prestigious theatre.Fact|date=June 2008 In the same year, he was invited to participate as guest of honor in Byelorussia’s international music festival, the “Slabenski Vitevsk Bazaar”.

In 2004, he participated in the “Mia Martini” Festival where he received the prize for “Best interpretation, expression and style”,Fact|date=June 2008 as he presented an unknown piece composed by the famous author and composer Sanja Ilič, leader of the Balkanica band. Since the mid-1990s, Favazza has been regularly invited to perform in the major cities of Japan.Fact|date=June 2008 In 2007, Favazza met Michel Elefteriades who proposed a collaboration on the fusion of Bel canto and Oriental music. An album is to be released in 2008. In addition, Favazza continues touring in Europe, Canada, Brazil, U.S.A., Japan.
