Penny Parker was a re-occurring fictional character on the television series MacGyver played by the actress Teri Hatcher.

Biography

Penny Parker and Angus MacGyver meet in line at an airport in Bulgaria ("Every Time She Smiles") when she tries to slyly smuggle some jewels out of the country in his pocket. She was once used by the fictional assassin Murdoc as an unwitting pawn in an attempt to eliminate MacGyver.

She inherited her late aunt Betty Parker's home on her 25th birthday, but it was later discovered that her aunt had been murdered in 1958 by her boyfriend (who was now the town's long-time sheriff), and had been suffering from lead poisoning due to a moonshine distillery lined with lead pipes. ("The Secret of the Parker House"). Penny also had a striking resemblance to her deceased aunt.

She remained close to MacGyver, but their relationship never blossomed into anything romantic. They have both referred to each other as being like brother and sister (Cleo Rocks).

Personality

Penny has a bubbly personality, and maintains the characteristics of an ingenue. With little talent in acting, but big dreams of aspiring to become famous, her pursuit of a show business career gets her into trouble more than once. She has dated a number of men in different career fields, often causing them to giving her material gifts of great value. She is easily frightened and susceptible to the power of suggestion.

She does however know how to deal with men who flirt with her (like MacGyver's friend Jack Dalton), and still remain good-natured about it.
