Clermont played
high school football at Robert Usher Collegiate High School in his home town ofRegina, Saskatchewan . Clermont played thequarterback andlinebacker positions for his high school team.Following high school, Clermont played for the Regina Rams of the CJFL. In 1999 the Rams joined forces with the University of Regina to make the jump to CIS and the Canada West conference. collegiately for the
University of Regina Rams under coachFrank McCrystal . In 2006, Clermont returned to theUniversity of Regina and completed hisbachelor degree studies in Administration.Professional career
Clermont was drafted in the first round (4th overall) of the CFL Draft by the BC Lions in 2002. Clermont, playing the slotback position, contributed to the Leos immediately, and at the end of the season, was awarded the
CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie Award .In 2004, Clermont started all of the Lions' 18 regular season games and playoff games. He tallied 1,220 yards on 83 receptions, and caught 7 touchdown passes. He was awarded the
Canadian Football League 's Top Canadian Player award, was named to the Western Division All-Star team. Clermont was also named Top Canadian Player in the2004 Grey Cup game.During most of the 2006, Clermont was out with a torn
MCL . He was injured when fellow teammateoffensive lineman Rob Murphy fell on his leg with an accidental chop block. The incident happened in the first quarter of the Lions' season opening 45-28 win over theSaskatchewan Roughriders . He made his return on August 10th, 2006, and saw limited action in a 32-5 win against theWinnipeg Blue Bombers .2007 CFL Most Outstanding Canadian, CFL Allstar, 86 catches 1158 yards and 7 tds.
