John Rundle Cornish

John Rundle Cornish [ [http://janus.lib.cam.ac.uk/db/node.xsp?id=EAD%2FGBR%2F0265%2FCAS%20H39 Details of portrait within Cambridge Antiquarian Society collection] ] was the inaugural Bishop of St Germans from 1905 to 1918 [After which the position laid dormant for 56 yearsCrockfords,(London, Church House 1995) ISBN 0715180886 ] . Born on 7 October 1837 he was educated at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge [ His Who’s Who entry states he was 14th Wrangler in 1859 Who was Who”1897-1990 (London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X)] . He was a Lecturer then Fellow [The Times, Wednesday, Dec 04, 1867; pg. 9; Issue 25985; col F "University Intelligence. Appointments at Sidney Sussex Dec. 3."] at the College before studying for ordination. His subsequent appointments included a period as Vicar of Kenwyn [ [http://homepages.tesco.net/~k.wasley/kenwyn.htm History of Kenwyn Church] ] , the post of Principal of "Truro Training College" and Archdeacon of Cornwall [ The Times, Thursday, Jul 26, 1888; pg. 5; Issue 32448; col E "Ecclesiastical Appointments.-New Archdeacon of Cornwall"] before a 15 year stint as a Suffragan Bishop.
