Delian Calu

Delian Calu (November 20 1951 - ) is a playwright and humanitarian. He is best known for his controversial plays, notably prize-winning "Condemned" and his erotic thriller "Can You Keep A Secret?"

He was born in Lagos, Nigeria but immigrated to Ramapo, New York where he had a tough upbringing. His father was an alcoholic and his mother was beaten almost daily, not only by his father. When interviewed by "Hustler" in 2001, Calu pointed his upbringing out as his main source of inspiration.

In 2003, Calu donated 250,000 USD to the AA in memory of his father. The following year he donated twice as much to the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases [http://www.nfid.org/] after being diagnosed with AIDS.

He is currently married to X-Rated actress Katie Golightly Calu. This was his third marriage. His second marriage was annulled after a drunken stint in Las Vegas. He has one child (Johnny Calu) who is an up and coming rap artist under the name of Lil' Johnny B.

Calu's most famous play is "Condemned", which he co-wrote in 1987 with his college room mate and former flame Jack H. E. Stanp. It is a dramatic thriller, which features a troubled young man, not unlike himself. "Condemned" won the 1989 Wrigley's Play of the Year.

In 1993 Calu wrote his first erotic thriller, "Can You Keep Secret", which featured the story of a young school girl and her professor. This play was made into a short movie in 1994, on the set of which he met his wife, Katie.

His other plays include "Sunflowers", "The Female Form", and the sequel to "Can You Keep A Secret?", "Yes, I Can".

He currently lives in Chino, California.
