Richard Ball was an area manager with Crown Books at the time of its collapse in spring 2001 [Boone, Ryan. "New Bookseller Rises from Crown Ashes", Burke Times-Mirror, September 22, 2001] . He briefly assisted Books-A-Million with their acquisition of 18 former Crown Books stores before founding The Page's Edge in fall 2001 [Certificate of Incorporation "The Page's Edge, Inc", State of Virginia, September 14, 2001] [ Boone, Ryan. "New Bookseller Rises from Crown Ashes", Burke Times-Mirror, September 22, 2001] [ [http://www.bookweb.org/aba/members/search.do/member=the_pages_edge American Booksellers Association (ABA) Listing] , 2003] . In 2001 and 2002, Ball was featured in several articles in regional papers as an example of the "new entrepreneur" in the post-dotcom world ["News and Noteworthy", Publisher's Weekly, November, 2001] [Hadi, Najeeb. "Personality Spotlight", Springfield Journal, March 30, 2002] . The articles largely focused on his new model of business, which relied on Net-90 wholesaleing (selling goods purchased on 90-day invoices, and collecting funds from purchasers before invoices were due - thus never expending of the Company's capital) [Hadi, Najeeb. "Personality Spotlight", Springfield Journal, March 30, 2002] .

The Net-90 model would prove as flawed as the dotcom model before it, and when pressed by Amazon.com's deep pockets, The Page's Edge folded, and Ball sold the business to DC-based Washingtonbook in 2004 ["News and Noteworthy", Publisher's Weekly, July, 2004] ["Business Transactions", The Washington Post, June 14, 2004] [Jacoby, Edmond. "Discount Bookseller Takes on Crown Name", North County Times, June 9, 2005.] .Ball is a member of the Springfield, VA Chamber of Commerce ["Business Transactions", The Washington Post, June 14, 2004] , and an advisor to small businesses in the Washington, DC market. In 2006 he founded Blue Washington LLC, targeting a growing political-left movement in Washington, and in 2007 founded BabyQuips Inc, a baby apparel company.

Richard Ball was born in 1975 in College Station, TX [Hadi, Najeeb. "Personality Spotlight", Springfield Journal, March 30, 2002] [Boone, Ryan. "New Bookseller Rises from Crown Ashes", Burke Times-Mirror. September 22, 2001] .
