Kalri village

Kalri (Punjabi:) is a village located at geographical coordinates: 31° 61' 32" North, 72° 45' 49" East. Kalri nowadays is part of tehsil Chiniot in Jhang District, Punjab, Pakistan.

Kalri Village

Kalri named one village is also located in the district Bhimber formerly in Mirpur of the state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir administered by Pakistan. It has been famous for its warrior people serving in British Indian Army and then in Pakistani Army. Its most famous son is Lieutenant General (Retd) Mohammad Akbar Khan (Chib) tipped for the top post being senior in the Pakistan army before being ignored by the Pakistan government of former PM Z A Bhutto and General Ziaul haq was appointed instead. He later served as the ambassador of Pakistan in the east Africa and then in United Kingdom until his death in 1981. Most of the kalri population still serves in the Pakistan army in various categories of ranks.

History

It is said that the land of this town was barren due to "kallar". After no of years, people start residing there and this town emerged on the map of world named as Kalri.
