Phillip Town is a village in the Lower Styria Region of Slovenia.

Phillip Town was established in 1916 when a Company of Commonwealth troops, lead by Major Phillip Stanton of Hastings, were involved in a minor mortar battle. They were attacked by a small detachment of Romanian soldiers. They won the battle but decided to settle with the injured when they realized the land was a fertile and an relatively un-war-torn area.

The Christian Brothers run a small, boys school St. Ignatius College with an enrolment of approximately 140 students. St. Ignatius College has a sister school arrangement with Ignatius Park College in Townsville, Australia. The current principal of St. Ignatius College is Dr. Phillip Bowery. This School also accepts boys from the surrounding districts leading the the relatively high school attendance [ Chrisitan Brothers Schools Directory (2004)] .

Phillip Town is not a registered town in Slovenia because of the fact that it was never registered itself because of the hostility of the government towards it. The government does not want a town where English is the main language spoken and also a town where the male citizens have all been trained in combat but are not part of the armed forces.

Because of this the town is not in the database, its mail is not delivered and the residents are not counted in the census. Most citizens to counteract this have been registered as being citizens living in the town of Maribor. So they are officially part of Slovenia.

Unusual politics

Phillip town is renowned for its unusual political framework. More than three quarters of the previous mayors have had Phillip as either their first or last name. This is due to the unusual favouring of this name by the citizens of Phillip Town, presumably due to the name of the town. This along with the fact that the Town Baker is traditionally a part of the Town Council, has caused it to be nominated to the Guinness Book of Records multiple timesFact|date=September 2008.
