Warden pear

Warden pear

The Warden pear, although sometimes used as to mean "any long-keeping cooking pear", is thought to be what is now termed the "Black Worcester or Parkinson's Warden." [cite web|title=Warden Abbey Vineyard: Warden Pears|url=http://www.wardenwines.co.uk/the_story_of_warden_pears.htm|accessdate=2008-06-01] They were used to make "warden pies."

Heraldry

The warden's pear is very, very rarely distinguished in blazon, if not in visual form, from the regular pear when there is a pun to be made on the name "Warden."
