- Il maestro di cappella
Il maestro di cappella (often translated in English as "The Music Teacher") is an
intermezzo in one act byDomenico Cimarosa . The first known performance of the work was onJuly 2 ,1793 inBerlin ,Germany . However, it is likely that this was not the premier production. Music historians believe the opera debuted somewhere between 1786-1792. The author of theopera 's libretto is now unknown. bass-baritone , it concerns a pompous maestro rehearsing an orchestra and often imitating the sound of the instruments. Always popular with greatbuffo s, such asFernando Corena ,Sesto Bruscantini , etc. It is still regularly performed.References
