George Smith (born 19 November 1785 in Cropwell Bishop, Nottinghamshire, England; died 3 April 1838 in the same corner of the globe) was a Nottingham cricketer who played three first-class matches for that county's eponymous club between 1826 and 1827. Five times he batted, and on each he was dismissed, totalling twenty runs at an average of four, with a highest score of six. His statistical contribution in the field was similarly minimal—he took but one catch—and, with the ball, non-existent.
Smith earned his living by combusting lime but won rather more fame for his dependability as a batsman. His three first-class matches comprised a quarter of his total appearances for Nottingham, spread between 1817 and 1827.
