Priceyourmeal

priceyourmeal is an online restaurant auction site allowing people to bid for meals in restaurants. Founded and launched in Glasgow in 2006 by entrepreneur Sukhvir Dhillon, the site provides a low-cost advertising solution for restaurants, whilst allowing users to decide how much they pay for their meals. Aiming to be at the cutting edge of restaurant booking systems, priceyourmeal launched an online booking service in late 2007 to cater for users that simply wish to book restaurants online. 2007 also saw the service launch in Edinburgh [ [http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/ViewArticle.aspx?articleid=3340779 Edinburgh Evening News ] ] with London added in 2008 [ [http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/real_food/article3349948.ece Foodie at large: Penny wise - Times Online ] ] . priceyourmeal now lists hundreds of restaurants in the UK, providing online menus, reviews and images of each restaurant. Diners can read and compare information about restaurants before bidding or booking online.

The model followed by priceyourmeal is similar to Google, in that rather than charging restaurants heavily for bookings and maintaining full control, priceyourmeal allows restaurants to list their own auctions, upload their own menus, add their own promotions and more. In addition, priceyourmeal has also teamed up with Livebookings so that users can make bookings in real-time, without having to wait for confirmation.

2008 also saw the launch of a free online planning service for people planning a party or night out with friends. Rather than one person taking charge, all participants are invited to vote on where and when they would like to go.
