"This Is Exile" is an album by Whitechapel that was released on July 8, 2008, on Metal Blade Records. It was leaked on June 18, 2008. This Is Exile shows progression from the first album with more heavier rhythms adding frequent use of harmonics and melodies throughout the songs utilized by the 3 guitarists. The album's lyrics also deal with deeper subjects than those on The Somatic Defilement. Whereas The Somatic Defilement's lyrics dealt mostly with intricate descriptions of mindless torture, This Is Exile's lyrics dwell on much deeper things, such as the ills of humankind.

The new sound of Whitechapel's new CD gives a strong definition to the styles being incorporated throughout the deathcore genre to further advance the genre beyond its roots. Also musical ability has been shown with 2 instrumentals, tracks 7 and 10.The music video for the title track, "This Is Exile" was released on June 18.
