The 311th Fighter Squadron (311 FS) is an inactive unit that was most recently part of the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. It operated the F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft conducting advanced fighter training.

Mission

History

The 311th was an operational and replacement training unit from, March 1942–April 1943. It went on to fly combat missions in Southwest and Western Pacific from, 2 February 194414 August 1945. [http://afhra.maxwell.af.mil/rso/squadrons_flights_pages/0311fs.html AFHRA 311 FS Page] ]

The 311th also saw combat in Korea from, 10 July 195227 July 1953. It trained US and foreign aircrews from, January 19701 November 1991.
